Christian Intervention Misconceptions
Christian Interventions believes that these misconceptions are false we disagree with these longstanding assumptions:
1. You can't help a drug addict alcoholic until they ask for help.
Alcoholics and drug addicts normally don't know why they behave in the manner that they do—they are experiencing a loss of control
Alcoholics and drug addicts don’t know what is happening inside of their bodies and the physical harm they are truly causing themselves
Every region of the brain is affected by drug use and alcohol use
Alcoholics and drug addicts make excuses for what is deemed inappropriate behavior.
Denial is strong and only with the help of a Christian Intervention can they find the help and spiritual guidance they so badly need.
What will get them to want help?
2. An alcoholic or drug addict must hit bottom.
Hitting bottom leaves them trying to find help on their own with no spiritual guidance or Christian advisors to help
Alcoholics may never hit bottom or may die without a Christian Intervention.
The family will end up suffering just as much as the substance abuser.
3. Addiction is a lack of willpower and a character flaw.
Addiction and lack of Christian faith dismantles the will.
4. Christian Drug Rehab only works if the drug addict or alcoholic wants it.
A 25 year study resulted in no difference between self-referred clients and clients that entered Christian Drug Rehab due to an Christian Intervention. It's not the willingness to go to a Christian Drug Treatment Center that matters. It's the willingness and commitment to continue working toward a healthy lifestyle when one leaves Christian Rehab that matters.
