Addiction causes deep emotional pain for both the addicted person and their family and friends: pain that can damage relationships for years or even decades.  It can be difficult to know God’s presence in the middle of so much turmoil, but, rest assured, He is still there. God can bring profound healing to even the most desperate and hopeless of situations.

Perhaps the biggest difference between a Christian intervention and a secular intervention is that, in a Christian intervention, the focus always remains on Christ and being Christ-like.  In a loving and non-judgmental environment, friends and family seek to reflect God’s grace by providing the addicted person with a way out of the addiction while maintaining the person’s dignity.  Honesty, humility, forgiveness, compassion, and love are balanced with personal accountability to foster communication between everyone involved.  Depending on the desires of those who participate, prayer and Scripture may also be incorporated.
